Your prayers are working!!! Last night the drs. did an MRI of Steve's brain to see if any infection has transferred from his nasal cavity to his brain. Great news, they did not see any infection up in his brain cavity! Plus, the air pocket around his brain is decreasing! And the surgical repair to the hole in his skull is still closed!!! ππΌππΌ The drs. think Steve is stable/healthy enough to be moved out of ICU to a step down floor In the hospital!

Steve is passing kidney stones! Noooooooo! Pray that he can get a procedure to break up the stones to pass them easier and he's not in anymore pain!! I'm concerned the pain/pressure he is experiencing from passing stones, is not good for the surgery site. The last thing he needs is the hole reopening. Pray that the drs. believe Steve is stable/healthy enough to have a laser procedure to eradicate the kidney stones. Also, pray that they will get the stone that is stuck in his kidney pocket reproducing these stones. (This would be his third procedure to try and get rid of them.) And pray that he won't have anymore kidney stones! EVER!

This is the first time I have been able to see Steve since his surgery and emergency flight to Portland. He seems to be doing pretty good to me! He is at his similar state of responsiveness to how is at home. So that's good! ππΌ
Although, the Drs. are very concerned about an infection he had in his nasal cavity! Due to the hole he had in between the two spaces, the risk of the infection possibly getting into his brain cavity is extremely high! So he is on HEAVY antibiotics and probably will be for 6 weeks! π₯΄ It doesn't necessarily mean that he'll be in the hospital the whole time but that's still crazy! Will you pray against ANY infection getting into his brain? Pray against and adverse side affect from the antibiotics to his liver, kidneys and any where else in his body. Pray that the surgery worked and the hole stays closed!

UPDATE-Steve is out of his 2nd surgery. The ENT Dr. said it went ok. He wasn't able to do as much as he hoped. But in the end, he was satisfied with the fixes to the hole. He is going to be there for 1-3 weeks depending on how the healing of the hole goes.ππΌ ... See MoreSee Less

Hey Prayer Warriors!
We need your help! I took Steve to the ER in Redding on Friday afternoon because he was in a ton of pain! They did lots of tests and CT scans and found elevated white blood cell count as well as air trapped in a pocket by his brain! Shasta regional hospital doesn't have a neurosurgeon team so they had to transfer him to the next available hospital. Redding's other hospital was full, Chico's hospital was full, Sacramento Hospitals were full, San Francisco Hospitals were full. They probably called about 5 to 7 different hospitals before they were able to find availability in Portland Oregon! They flew him to Portland on Saturday morning which is 6 hours away from us! π There they did more invasive scan and discovered that there was a hole in his skull behind his nasal cavity that was letting the air into his brain space and caused an imbalance in pressure. Sounds like an EXTEMERMLY TERRIBLE HEADACHE!!! Poor guy!!! They are planning to do surgery Monday to repair the hole. And to make sure his shunt is working properly, which drains Cerebral spinal fluid from the brain cavity to reduce pressure. He will probably stay in the hospital and be monitored for 5 to 7 days after the surgery to make sure the it worked and the hole stays closed. The trapped air will slowly be reabsorbed into his body over the next couple of months. Will you pray that the surgery goes smoothly and that it fixes the problem. And that he won't be in pain as he recovers over the next couple of months. And pray for the kids, they can't visit him, because of Covid they only allow 1 visitor per 24 hours. π© So we are still in Redding trying to figure out the next best step. It's so hard being away from him! π₯ΊππΌ π€
